The 2009 Victorian Black Saturday bushfires had devastating impacts on the lives of people and also on animals and plants. Some native species were threatened after the fires, including a little fish in the streams around Marysville called the Barred Galaxias.
In this recovery story, Fern Hames (Arthur Rylah Institute for Environmental Research) explains how the Marysville community engaged with the recovery of the fish, with benefits for the fish and the people alike.
The diagram to the right shows how the connections between all seven recovery capitals are illustrated in this story.
