Reflections of female leaders with deep connection and expertise with military mental health

24 Apr 2024

Today we pause to honour Anzac Day and acknowledge the service of all current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families.

This year, we also share the experiences and perspectives of three outstanding Phoenix Australia women with deep connection and expertise with military mental health.

Since 1899, women have played a vital role in supporting Australians on military operations, making a substantial contribution and sacrifice. And while the role of women was traditionally limited, it has broadened significantly in recent decades, with women now working in over 200 different roles within the ADF.

Established in 1995, then as the National Centre for War-Related PTSD, Phoenix Australia’s mission is to advance the wellbeing and quality of life of individuals and communities who experience trauma and adversity, through underpinning research, translation to practice, clinical services and training.
