Trauma-focussed cognitive behavioural therapy, such as prolonged exposure, or eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR) are evidence-based, gold standard treatments for PTSD. It is important to discuss the therapy that is most suitable for you with a mental health professional.

Evidence-based treatments are essentially treatments that have been proven to work. This means that they are based on scientific evidence, including data collected over a number of years, or large-scale clinical trials involving thousands of participants.
